Description
We supply industrial fasteners and fittings — around 11,000 line items — to trade customers. Our current site is a PDF catalogue and a phone number. We are not asking for e-commerce. Our customers buy on account at negotiated prices and will keep phoning the trade desk. What we want is a catalogue they can actually search, with the technical attributes filterable — thread pitch, material, coating, standard — because that is how our customers think and a text search box does not serve it. The product data is in a spreadsheet with inconsistent attribute naming. Cleaning that is in scope and is probably a third of the job.
Responsibilities
- Normalise the 11,000-line product spreadsheet into a consistent attribute schema
- Build faceted search on the technical attributes, not just keyword search
- Design for the trade audience — dense, scannable, fast on a phone in a van
- Keep it a catalogue: enquiry and call-back, no cart or checkout
- Set up a repeatable import so we can update pricing and stock ourselves
Deliverables
- Next.js catalogue site with faceted technical search
- Normalised product data and attribute schema
- Repeatable import process documented for our team
- Enquiry flow into the trade desk
