Description
We run a home services business — plumbers, electricians, about 80 of them on the road — and the app is for them, not for customers. Right now they get their jobs by WhatsApp and record what they did on paper. What the app needs to do: show today's jobs, capture what was done with photos, take a customer signature, and record parts used. What it needs to do well is work with no signal. A basement with no reception is a normal Tuesday, and an app that loses a completed job because the sync failed will be uninstalled by Wednesday. Offline-first with conflict resolution is the actual engineering here. The screens are simple.
Responsibilities
- Build offline-first data handling with a queue that survives app kill and device restart
- Design conflict resolution for the case where dispatch reassigns a job the engineer already started
- Capture photos and signatures locally with deferred upload and visible sync state
- Keep the UI usable in gloves and in poor light — large targets, high contrast
- Ship to both stores and set up crash reporting before rollout
Deliverables
- Android and iOS apps published to the stores
- Offline-first sync with documented conflict resolution
- Photo and signature capture with deferred upload
- Crash reporting and a field pilot report with ten engineers
