Description

Our operations team lives in three dashboards that disagree with each other, because each was built by a different contractor against a different definition of "active customer". This engagement is one dashboard, one set of definitions, and a natural-language query box on top of it. The definitions matter more than the AI: before anything is built we need a written agreement on what each metric means, and the query layer must answer from those definitions rather than inventing its own aggregation. When someone asks a question the underlying data cannot answer, it must say so. A plausible number with no basis is the failure mode we are paying to avoid.

• Work with our ops lead to write down the metric definitions, and get them signed off before building
• Build the dashboard against those definitions, from our existing warehouse
• Add a natural-language query layer that resolves questions to the agreed metrics, never to ad-hoc SQL of its own
• Make it refuse and explain when a question cannot be answered from the available data
• Show, for every answer, which metric definition and date range produced it
